My Amazing Trip from Hell

My best friend, moved to Virginia, and now that her husband is deployed we decided to have me fly out there and go on a little mini trip to New York. So many things were against us and did not work out on this simple little trip! However, we still managed to laugh and have a great time. Here is my trip to the east coast with Mallory...
The start of my trip, flying over Bryce and Arches National Park. I thought it was so unique and pretty.
I had a lay over at my favorite place to visit, Chicago! I rushed to Potbelly's for a delicious sandwich, that I've been craving for months, before hoping on to my flight to Norfolk.
After hanging around Virginia Beach for a day, Mallory and I drove up to Connecticut to drop off these two adorable boys of Mal's. This is Banyon and Jasper cuddling on the 12 hour car ride!
Jasper and I during the drive.
We spent the night at Mallory's in laws and then the next day drove down to New York/ New Jersey. We booked the Westin in Jersey City. So, we get to the Westin and they can't find our reservation, well some how we booked our room for the wrong weekend! So a long story short...We stayed one night there and then switched to the Courtyard Marriot,( that is no Westin).....this is the first bad thing of the trip. The craziness of trying to find a room for the night and the weekend and arguing with Expedia to get a refund for the wrong weekend booking.

Our first night we decided to go in to the city and eat at this place called Jane. We had a delicious meal and a appetizer brought to us compliments from the kitchen! However, on the way back my Metro card stopped working and I had to buy a new one just after refilling the old one!
The next day we walked everywhere! We had lunch and rice pudding at a city park. Then we walked and look through shops.
(Okay here we go...hope you can understand what I'm trying to say here:-))After walking and shopping, we had dinner at another place recommended on the food network, called Five Points. Here I had the potato pizza (recommended by food network) which was a normal pizza with thinly sliced potato on it. This tasted fine to me....however, 5am the coming morning it will have started our wonderful day of food poisoning! But Mallory took such good care of me....we were so bummed cause as you see in the pictures Mal and I had to rush so much to get to our show, Chicago, because NY's lovely subway that we needed was closed! So we took an short trip on the subway and then walked the rest of the way to our show...well was sort of walking, two words...New Boots...So as we were rushing by landmarks, Time Square, Rockefeller plaza, the tree being put together and more, we would tell each other, (out of breath) "we will come back tomorrow, see it, and take pictures"....but thank you Five Points ( at least we think that was it) for keeping me in our room throwing up every 5 minutes.
Mallory and I happy to have made it on time to Chicago at the Ambassador Theatre.

There is a gap in pictures, where there would have been many from that one day. But like said before I was stuck, pretty much in the bathroom all day. So Monday after getting pulled over on our way back to Virginia, we made it to Mallory's.
The next day we took a short trip to Williamsburg! This was the best day of our trip together, and our last full day. This town is so cute and historic! I loved the buildings and the cute little Merchants Square, and of course the fall trees!

Us by the historic courthouse. Having some fun!

I just love this picture!
The governors mansion...so cute!
After Williamsburg, we went back to Virginia Beach, and went to the movies. Mallory and I thought it was hilarious that the center has no profanity signs. So we just had to take pictures with it.

The next day we got up, made sure we were all packed, and then flew home with a lay over in Detroit. Then we were finally HOME!!!! Here we are waiting for our luggage at LAX.

Even though so many things went wrong we had a blast, even when I was throwing up! I love Mallory and am so happy I was able to fly out and visit her....and now I have a great New York and East Coast mini vacation story to share in the future!
